Did you know that Yelp can be an important marketing tool for your insurance agency? Yelp is a social review platform that has 75 million unique desktop visitors, 70 million unique mobile visitors and 30 million unique mobile app users each month. Consumers are increasingly turning to Yelp not only for restaurant and shopping reviews, but for information on a variety of other types of businesses, including insurance agencies.
Start by ‘claiming’ your agency’s page on Yelp. That enables you to respond to inquiries and reviews by customers and prospective customers. Once you’ve claimed your Yelp page, respond to any questions/concerns/complaints promptly. You’ll want to organically grow positive reviews on Yelp, not by soliciting them. In fact, Yelp prohibits businesses from asking for positive reviews. It also asks that businesses listed on Yelp:
—Don’t offer freebies, discounts or payments in exchange for reviews.
—Don’t ask anyone to write a review of your business, including family, friends and customers.
—Never pressure or offer to pay anyone for modifying or removing a critical review.
